WL-14 Scissor Tail

$3,000.00

“Drawing its name from the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher — a bird species common to the Central Texas Hill Country — the WL-14 Scissortail is a special edition WL-14 that pays homage to the "Oriole" guitars produced by Kalamazoo between 1940 and 1942. Built with maple back and sides and vintage-inspired X-bracing, the Scissortail brings excellent projection and focus to the flagship WL-14 series while retaining its woody, characteristic tone. A natural finish coupled with distinctive tortoise-style binding sets this instrument apart from other WL-14 models, along with an original Scissortail decal applied to the headstock in true-to-era fashion. Hardshell TKL case included.”- From the Waterloo Website

Many appreciate that one of Bill Collings' gifts as a guitar builder is his ability to glean and to understand by close observation and inspired intuition the essence of an object of interest and then to re-imagine it. Constructed with exquisite taste and an unerring attention to detail, the Waterloo WL-14 is evidence, yet again, of his exceptional ability in this regard. He has captured and created anew the look, sound, and feel of a unique underclass of vintage guitars, and, at the same time, he has elevated the form because of his excellent skill and superb artistry.

Condition

There is a longer scrape at the bass side, upper bout, measuring approximately 2 1/2 inches. There is a ding on the bass side of the soundhole at the waist, approximately 3/8 of an inch in diameter. A large, deep dent on the bass side, lower bout measures approximately 3/8 of an inch by 1/8 of an inch. There are two smaller dents approximately 3 1/2 inches below the bridge foot on the bass side, lower bout, measuring approximately 1/8 of an inch and 1/16 of an inch in diameter. Some extremely minor dents are present on the treble side edge of the headstock veneer. Otherwise, the rest of the guitar is in excellent condition, with approximately 3/32 of saddle exposure remaining. EXCELLENT
