The Goodall Rosewood Grand Concert Cutaway Short Scale (or RGCCSS) has the distinction of being one of our longstanding favorites within the Goodall offerings. Indeed, having been so impressed with the first example that we received more than 25 years ago at the turn of the century this is a guitar that we have historically either had on hand or on the way. Apart from the overall versatility of the grand concert body this particular recipe has always, pardon the pun, resonated with us and our customers. The Redwood adds cedar-esque qualities of tone, most notably a sweeter and more complex edge to the note, as well as a generally quick and effortless response. Yet, unlike Cedar, Redwood has an additional stiffness that, in turn, yields a broader dynamic range. This is particularly notable when the top is driven harder, at which point cedar will generally compress or distort more readily. These sonic qualities of Redwood, are well mated with the generally Brilliant and shimmery qualities associated with James Goodall’s overally approach to voicing. In a similar vein, the short scale option found on this guitar also serves to warm up the response, in addition to offering the player a little more comfort in terms of stretches. However, by Being more conservative with the scale reduction, there is little compromise in the projection of the guitar. In many respects, we view this Goodall recipe as an exemplar of contemporary acoustic guitar voicing. Though the RGCC is quite well rounded for a small-bodied guitar, it is without question one of the most expressive and dynamic fingerstyle guitars one could hope for.

 Condition

This Goodall RGCCSS was clearly loved and well-maintained in that there is no cosmetic wear or any structural issue to report. EXCEPTIONALLY FINE condition.
