1995 HD-28 2R
“The Martin HD-28 is a legendary acoustic guitar, trusted by generations of players and played by countless icons across genres. Its Dreadnought body size and scalloped bracing delivers the bold, projective tone with strong bass, clear trebles, and rich overtones that has defined acoustic music for nearly a century.” – From the Martin Website
The HD-28 2R is a rare guitar that Martin produced in the early 90s. It includes a larger (4 ¼”) soundhole surrounded by a double herringbone rosette. The larger soundhole mitigates some of the dreadnought low end boom and adds a bit of volume and balance. It is reminiscent of the Clarence White, Tony Rice models, making it a great bluegrass instrument.
Condition:
This guitar has been played, but well cared for. There are a few minor dings and scratches on the top and back lower bouts. There is some finish sink and denting on the rosette at the lower end of the pickguard on the treble side and an approximately 1/4” dent on the lower bout base side near the purfling. On the back, lower bout treble side there is a thin scratch about 1” in length. There is also some repaired binding on the treble side, upper bout. Considering it’s age we consider this guitar is in EXCELLENT condition.
